I would suggest putting food on your finger and getting her to lick it off
She is more likely to be able to eat that way, then off a spoon
Not sure what you are feeding her …. mixes are not good for rats

soft foods are easier for her to eat and will help to keep her hydrated
you can grind up her rat blocks (Oxbow or Harlan 2014), and soak them in cool water to make mush,
and/or feed the organic soy infant formula (or kitten milk replacer etc) thickened with baby cereal - both of these will provide the nutrition she needs

treats/extras at this time would be baby food, ripe avocado (not the parts near the skin or near the pit), cooked sweet potato, cooked squash etc

sounds like she may be improving a bit :)

She definitely is. I gave her soft food that soaked in water and she was able to eat it. She drank a lot from a spoon and then went to the bottle.. And this one s only the second day of Doxy.!

Update: She is eating and drinking on her own and is starting to come to me for attention .. I'm so happy she's getting better.. She's still dizzy and wobbly but I'm hoping she pulls through : D

Were you able to get your vet to give you a steroid? I'd still try to that if they didn't.

Well no but he did change her antibiotics.. He also said a steroid would be the last option due to her being so small the risk of death from them is high . But thank you for the concern it really means a lot and if I have to get steroids and the vet won't give me any I'll let you all know ?

She has been a bit but you can tell the old meds weren't working right.. She just started the new medication tonight so I'll let you know in a day or two.?

Update: She is still wobbling but has spirit... The vet said he was worried a steroid because of her size it could be fatal.... Would you guys say to risk it or just let her be her wobbly self.. She seems happy as of now so I think I could leave her as she is but I'd like to have more opinions ?..

If the vet will not give you a steroid, you could ask about giving metacam …. it has anti inflammatory properties so will reduce inflammation
(a steroid such as prednisone, would be better but it would lower her immune system. It would not kill her as amount given is based on the rat's weight)
Metacam and a steroid can not both be given and if you switch from one to the other there is a waiting time between the two, also prednisone can not be just stopped, a rat has to be gradually taken off it.

What antibiotics is she on now?
What is the strength of each (mg/ml)?
How much is she given (ml) of each med?
How much does she weigh and how old is she?

Okay so been a while since I updated this.... Mazu is back in the cage with the shelves and is as playful and annoying to her sisters as ever. She is still wobbling her head but she can run jump and climb with no problems. I really appreciate everything you guys gave me for advice.. It really helped.

This is probably the last update on Mazu because she won't change anymore so.. Meet my dizzy girl.! she isn't lethargic she just wants to cuddle unlike her sister Zirna who is always on the go.!

My boy bandit is recovering from an inner ear infection he had all the same symptoms as Mazu, we have him on 1.5ml of Baytril and and 2ml of Rheumocam it’s been a week and he’s already improving greatly! Hope everything works out good I’m so sorry you guys are going through this!

Heh thanks but I don't think it will help. She's been like this for months now and her URI has cleared up so I think she may just stay my dizzy girl.!
