So I think im adopting 3 boys in late spring/early summer, but I'm torn on the bedding choice. I'm getting a single or double critter nation cage and I think fleece is my best option for those cages. I do have a few questions for those of you who use fleece as bedding for your ratties.
1. How often do you clean it?
2. Does it stink?
3. Do you use anything under it?/Does it help?/Uhaul pads?
4. Any other tips for maintaining fleece for rats?
Thanks!

fleece does smell, some people clean and replace the fleece daily
You can make or buy thick fleece liners that seem to need to be replaced and cleaned weekly, if your rats are good at using their litter boxes

Some people started making cage liners with Uhaul pads sewn under the fleece layer or between two fleece layers

I'm just not sure what to use because of the depth of the critter nation pans... and bass equipment metal pans are expensive! I don't want my room to smell, but it just seems easier, cheaper, prettier and overall better... hmm...
