Hello, does anyone know the correct dosage of doxycicline 100 ml/mg for 460g rats, ONCE a day?? (Due to lack of time). Also what's the math you need to do to know that ? lol. Thank you in advanced!

@lilspaz68 :)

Assume these are capsules or packets?

if so, mix one with 1 ml of hot water from the tap (not boiling) let it dissolve then add 3 ml of syrup. this would give you 25 mg/ml doxy and your 460 gram rat would get 0.37 ml once a day.

@lilspaz68 I ended up asking my vet and he told me 0.04 for a 430 g rat. Very small dose..I wonder if it is correct. This is the antibiotic. I know it's for birds but It's the only Doxy we have here I believe, at least the only one my vet could find.

Sorry to have missed this. IF you have 100 mg/ml doxy undiluted from the bottle, the dose of 0.04 ml would be correct BUT it would probably taste horrible and eventually your rat would refuse. The syrup makes it taste a lot better but lowers the concentration so you have to give more.

No problem, I'm really sorry for bothering. Oh thank u. I actually started giving them the 0.04 and they take it pretty well! Im doing baytril also and always mix it with iogurt/ oatmeal/ baby food / watered down peanut butter! They have been on meds since forever cuz theyre respiratory systems are very weak so I need to mix it with different stuff everyday so they don't get bored with it!
