I have 3 female rats in a double CN because I plan to get more Ratties eventually and decorate this cage like crazy! Immie is my sweet old girl (I actually don't know her age because I rescued her from a pet store where she was being sold as an unwanted pet in a 10 gallon tank with a topper) and I've got Juno and Pax, my sweet 8 week old babies. I've noticed Immie taking mouthfuls of the food (which is in a very big bowl to try to prevent any squabbles) and hiding the food under a plush hideaway. She has completely emptied the bowl multiple times and seems to just want the food to be in a pile. Any ideas why? My girls have been slowly introduced and get along fine. The babies know not to mess with big girl Immie and they all sleep curled up together. Am I missing something?

Yeah, hoarding is very normal. But when I had large colonies, I would go find the big stash of food and refill the bowl with it. It kept my little hoarders busy. lol
