I feed my rats science selective as main food. I also feed a small scoop with mixed grains, degydrated veggies and some seeds and daily fresh veggies.
feeding some veggies and grains daily lowers the total protein and vitamins/minerals in the diet.
in a couple weeks i will pick up 2 6 week old rats. I want to feed them the same diet, but i wonder if they need extra proteins, and if so, till what age and how much?
also does the diet still provide the needed nutrients when feeding other things besideds the kibble?

i feed my 2 rats about 20gr kibble, 10gr mix and a small bowl mixed veggies.

From what I've learned from my research on diet you should feed any younger rat(s) extra protein until their around 6 to 7 months old and i think their diet your feeding your rats now is great, though you can feed them (if you want) some kinds of cooked meat or fish, and roasted unsalted peanuts occasionally for some extra protein and a treat.
