Hello all!

This is my first post. I have a new rattie joining my mischief. Her name is Luna and she has pretty white fur and black eyes. She's very handsome and sweet. So far she enjoys sitting on my shoulder and bruxing in my ear. She also seems to like when I rub her face.

Her coat has me puzzled though! The fur from her nose to her tail on top of her body is shorter and thinner than the hair on her underside and haunches. Some of her shorter whiskers are curly. The lady who sold her to me said she has always been like this. Does anyone know anything about this abnormality? Here are some pics:

The breeder also breeds rex and hairless rats so it's possible! I wonder if it'll change as she ages, she's only about a month and a half/two months

The only way to tell for sure would be to get genetic testing. If they were just random patches of baldness I would say there's the potential that she has parasites, but since it's a very uniform hair thinning it makes me think that it's genetic. The only genes I can think of that do that are Rex genes. [emoji16]

Yep, they molt a couple of times and 2 to 3 months old is one of them. It's very noticeable on the lighter coloured rats. She should fill in completely with fur as she ages.
