Not letting go of my finger?

Hello,

So recently one of my boys, Cap, has gotten into the habit of grabbing my finger when I've got the cage door open and not letting go. Sometimes he'll sniff or lick it but a lot of the time he just holds it and stares up at me. I've even tried gently pulling my finger away and he wouldn't let go and got pulled along with my finger a bit.

We're relatively comfortable with eachother and I try to be respectful of things he doesn't like (I.E being picked up). I also try to stick to edge of the cage so they can retreat back if they aren't feeling comfortable or social so he's never done this because I surprised him.

I just wanted to make sure this was just one of his quirks and there isn't anything to worry about.

On the chance this is just a quirk, I'd love to hear about others' quirky rats!

Maybe he just wants to hold hands?

He holds your finger with his hand or with his teeth?

He holds on with his paws, he's not incline to touch me with his teeth even for 'grooming'

Aww, that's nice to hear. Thank you for answering my question. Hopefully one day I'll know enough about rats to be able to answer these questions my self
