I know there are many Canadians on this board- I just want to point out that this month's rescue is Canadian, as is one of the fundraisers, while the other fundraiser will ship to Canada for free. T shirts ship internationally. (I would have to check with Nuts About Squirrels, I don't recall their shipping policy)

I adopted my first rats in 2009 and have been in love ever since. Later that year was my first official rescue. I was picking up a surrender called Oreo (renamed Pandora). While there I spotted a tiny hamster cage sitting on the table. Inside was a very sad looking rat with a little mouse as his only company. The cage was not protected from the many dogs present and I knew I needed to take them with me. The owner agreed to let me have them as well. I named them Wallace and Gromit. Wallace was the absolute sweetest boy though not the healthiest due to his beginnings. I realized there was a need for someone to give these fabulous animals the home and love they deserve.
The house is full of cages. I do rehabilitation, adoption, hospice, daycare and offer support to rat owners near and far. We do take in other small animals such as rabbits and ferrets. My days are very busy as I do this all on my own. I have a full-time job and tell people the rescue is my second full-time job that I receive no pay for.
We currently have 100+ rats and one rabbit looking for furever homes. Social media is where we concentrate our efforts the most.
