on kijiji :( - adults probably means 3 month old babies

- if anyone is in the area, maybe you could make arrangements to pick them up and take them to the SPCA (or Mainely Ray Rescue)

================================

I breed rats for my snakes and I now have too many. All are adults and have only been fed purina dog chow and bread crusts. As I have too many, I am offering them for free as pets or feeders. You must come pick them up, I will not deliver!

is there anyone in The Moncton area that is able to save these poor ratties?
The Oromoncto SPCA does not have any rats in right now and the Fredericton SPCA only has two so they likely have room,
if someone can rescue them!!

In the past, on several occasions when groups of rats have been in need of rescue in NB, Mainely Rat Rescue, under the guidance of Kim, made room and were able to take them in.
Thus I was able to pick them up, get them vet checked, foster them and transport them to a representative of MRR.
A few times people on this forum were able to help in these efforts to rescue and transport groups of NB rescued rats to MRR.
At other times MRR was unable to help groups of NB rats in desperate need, because they were full.
Although MRR did not take in groups of NB rats frequently, they saved the lives of more than a hundred NB rats over a number of years by taking them from me, fostering them, and finding them good homes

I emailed MRR to see if they would be able to take in these rats if I were somehow able to manage to get them.
MRR has undergone many changes in the last years or so.
Unfortunately, MRR is unable to help save the lives of these rats or the lives of any NB rats in the future, as they will only be taking in rats from their area.

So ..... no one on the Maritime Rat Rescue Group website will help in any way (the rescue itself closed ambout 2 years ago), the Fredericton SPCA refused to take them even tho I offered to provide a cage, there are no rescues in the Maritime provinces (a new start up as well as Buckwheat Rat Rescue whom I thought had stopped rescuing over a year ago - both removed their websites after I contacted them), and as previously mentioned Mainely Rat Rescue will not help rats in NB although they are the only rat rescue in this area .... I also contacted the NB SPCA and the Moncton SPCA but don't hold out any hope.

Any ideas?
Any help? :(

I have been told there are about 12 boys and 12 girls at this place.
Boys are crammed into a tank to tiny to house a hamster.
Person didn't know about the girls.

The conditions are horrible.
Please help if you can .... can anyone take any of them?

Please contact the NBSPCA to report concerns and request an immediate investigation
Hopefully they will remove all the rats

I will definitely be calling in tomorrow to make a complaint about the cruelty to the rats. I hope everyone else here will too.

If you have not made a formal complaint please do so. If you have made a complaint, please make another one ... and insist on doing so.

Man is breeding rats for snake food
Some rats are not being given food or water
At least one rat was abandoned outdoors by the daughter-in-law (to die)
Person didn't know about the girls.

The conditions are horrible.
They are only giving away 10 rats so there will still be many rats left behind to suffer if the 10 are removed.

I believe it is illegal in NB to: (http://spca-nb.ca/animal-protection/faqs/)
- breed animals without being inspected and licenced by the NB SPCA
- house animals in too small cages
- not provide food and water
- live feed animals to reptiles
- abandon animals
