I want to know everything I can about rat diet. Everything! A lot of people here are very knowledgeable and I was wondering if people would be willing to teach me how to calculate how much a rat needs to eat/vitamin and mineral intact, along with special cases like pregnant does, older rats, young rats and sick rats.
Please help me out!

I'm not sure anyone here has studied that so extensively... it sounds like you are thinking in the way of a homemade mix diet? Or am I misundertsanding? Most of us just use the best lab blocks available on the market, as they were created by the people who have done extensive research on rat nutritional requirements.

I agree with Velo's comment---many of us feed high quality lab blocks precisely because they fulfill all of the nutritional needs of our pet rats.

Here are two links that may give you some of the information you're looking for:

I think it's fantastic you're interested in learning more about their nutritional requirements. Diet is such an important contributor to health.

As Velo mentioned, are you looking into creating your own rat diet? I'm curious now! :)

I recently got a few mod positions helping people out with rodent care on a couple blogs, and I really want to know all there is about rats! I know a lot of general information, but I really want to become an expert in everything ratty, so I thought I'd start with nutrition!
