Faline and her Babies!!

First, here is beautiful Faline <3


Ok so I have pics from when I got them so I will start at the beginning. When I got them, the babies were about 15 hours old. I let them settle in before taking pictures. Pictures started on Day 2, about 26 hours after they were born. They weighed about 4g.






Then mama Faline got a bit stressed so I cut the photoshoot short and gave them back to their waiting mommy.


The next day I got more pictures of the babies. Their weight increased to about 6g.

The following day their weights jumped to 9-10g and their makings started to show up. I also checked to see who was a boy and who was a girl.

I missed taking pictures yesterday. It was a busy day.

Today I checked their weights and took them out. Faline was much better with me today, I think she is finally realizing that I mean her no harm. I don't blame her for being worried, after all we did move her just after she gave birth. She just wanted to play today. Didn't even care that I was taking her babies out of the nest and taking pictures of them. It was such a relief.

Anyway, the babies have started to get a little bit of fur in, you can see the skin starting to flake off. They are between 10-13g now.

Wow.. she is gorgeous! I bet her babies will be adorable when they get fluffly.

Ahh I can't get over how beautiful Faline is! What a gorgeous mama. And the little babies are so precious, I can't wait to see their coats really start to come in.

Was she still in a cage with the males after she gave birth? I really really hope not...

Unfortunately, yes she was. The boys and girls lived together with the litter of babies.

Possibly, Im not 100% sure about the person's current rat situation. She just said she is "downsizing her rats".

Oh my Faline is just beautiful I've never seen that colour on a rat before...only hamsters. She is so precious...so are those little bubs

uh oh... as beautiful as she and her babies are, I hope she's not pregnant again!! fingers crossed

oh what a gorgeous girl! want! want!! the babies are cute too, or will be when they've finished "baking" (I always think new born rats need more time in the "oven" LOL)

can't imagine things that tiny being able to move around and make noise etc
just amazing to me

Here are the pictures from yesterday!

The babies all weighed between 13-15g, except for the small runty girl who weighed only 11g. I was a bit concerned about her, but I think she is ok since her weight today went up quite a bit. Faline is getting better and better with me. She is still protective but not in the aggressive way she was before. All she wanted to do while she was out was play! All the markings on the babies are coming in much darker and they have little short bits of fur now Their skin flakes are fun to pick off of them LOL.

OH and yesterday was their one week birthday!

And here are her babies <3 I think I am going to go for a disney or children's story name theme since Faline is named after the girl fawn in Bambi. I have a few names already picked out for some of them too. The fawn boy is going to be Todd from the Fox and the Hound and another will be Copper, just not sure which one yet... there is plenty of time to decide!

Hehe they will need a home in a few weeks

That's dangerous haha. I just adopted 3 baby boys just over a week ago, which brought me up to 6 rats.. I think my mom would kill me if I brought home any more
