Itchy & cleaning a lot & scabs on the skin

My female rat is about a year and a few months and she seems to scratch herself quite a lot. She has little scabs on her skin & is also shedding. She also seems to groom a lot, but I'm not sure how often the normal amount of grooming is. Not sure if I should take her to the vet.... :tumkiss:

Sounds like mites or lice. Can you see little bugs on the skin, or nits on the hair shafts? Regardless of what you can see, it would be good to treat for parasites with either revolution (selamectin) or ivermectin. Revolution is rx only from a vet but ivermectin can be purchased in most tack stores. Please ask a member here for dosing info if you go the ivermectin route - too much can be bad for them. A good rat vet will know how much revolution to give.

If you can get Revolution, its safer, very effective and easier on you and your rats. All rats will need to be dosed as its highly contagious.

Does anyone know where to order revolution or how much a normal price is ? It seems very expensive on Canadian Amazon
