Yesterday was the worst day as we lost 2 of our beutiful boys...Firstly Jackson, then Banjo... Jackson a 3yr old hooded agouti was a rescue from a couple who live in our town...to say that the boyfriends nickname was Johnny Reptile gives you a clue to the possible fate that Jackson and his brother Marley may of been...But we took them and gave them both a forever home...Jackson was a very shy and frightened boy who had been struggling with Marley who had an aggressive streak, which was sorted when Marley was nutered. They became so loving and close and snuggled every night in their hammock...But Marley developed an inoperable Neck tumour and crossed the bridge. Jackson ended up with 5 new cagemates and had no problems at all....a little independant he would still want to sleep in his own spots during out time...mainly in holes that he had created in the back of our sofa...lol...he was allways into mischeif and a great escape artist and the best at hide and seek...but yesterday when it was out time he seemed so very weak it was a big change, vet was called and meds ordered steroid and baytrill but they were very busy after easter holidays and emergencys so would have to pick up next day...He never recovered and passed in our arms later that day, warm and loved.

Banjo a pink eyed white boy of just 16 months is the first of our babies to jouney to the Rainbow Bridge.... We took in a group of 4 what we were initialy told were boys only to discover 2 boys and 2 girls now pregnant...as we had took them on and loved all 4 we kept the Girls and babies in new cages upstairs untill old enough to seperate them.. Banjo ended up with 4 of his brothers as new cagemates for Jackson...a gorgeous loving boy who loved his time to play and was never anything but loving towards his brothers and Jackson...but he developed a chest infection that we thought we had gotten under control with steroid and baytril ..but it re emerged at beginning of easter holiday and as above his meds were ordered...but as the night wore on he had longer and longer bouts of gasping even though we tried the usual steam the stress of it took its toll and he passed in our arms to start his journey.

It is heartbreaking to lose one of our Ratties but 2 in one night shook our world and the heartbreak was almost unbearable... At least they have each other on the journey to the Rainbow bridge and our love to keep them warm...they will reach the bridge to be greated by a horde of twitching noses and warm fur and groomed by the family that have made the journey before them...Then they can run and play hard untill we greet them all again and see their smiles and hear the happy bruxing once again...

Never a Goodbye...Just a see you later at the bridge where we will meet once again...Love you all and always will...xxx

I'm so sorry you lost two of your boys! I'm glad you were able to be with them when they passed, and that they have each other's company for the journey.
Play hard at the Bridge Jackson and Banjo

I'm so sorry. :(
It is extremely sad and heartbreaking. One comforting thought is that your babies were saved from knowing this pain-- they passed together.
