I've noticed a LOT of people here with CN/FN cages put a litter pan right at the bottom of the ramp.
Any particular reason for it, or is it just convenient?

that is a favorite spot for rats to poop, so may as well put the litter box there
i gave up on using a litter box with my guys but most of their poop does end up at the bottom of the ramp

I never noticed that with our old cage, but our boys were the only one that had a ramp and it only had one.

Under ramps and in corners are favorite places for them to pee and poop ... so as said above, might as well put litter boxes there

I've had the best of luck with them at the end of ramps or under a low shelf

We have 3 in each of our DCN and none are at the bottom of the ramps. One is in the corner of the top small shelf, another in the back corner of the top large shelf, and the other in corner of bottom large shelf.
