4 boys being picked up from Chicago..Update 6/4/14

I was contacted about 4 boys. a group of 3 boys and a single boy. They are being neglected. One boy has a head tilt the others are "thin" from the owners mouth. Apperantly the owner threatened to let them go outside and one of my adopters contacted me for help. So she talked the owner into keeping them in the house till I can get them. Thank goodness for her

I have one day off this week so it was impossible for me to go. Dsptch911 was offering but I had a retired rat friend who I help with intros and he offered to go get them and then drive them all the way to me. Since he has been wanting to come meet the rats since I met his a few times I figured this would be a good time. He can save a few boys and visit the rescues.

I guess I am in Illinois now? LOL but I have a lot of adopters there so I am ok with that. I gave chicago 7 rats but now I get to take 4 from there. I guess the math is still in my favor. I guess the boys are hooded or mismarked barebacks. I am doing rearrange tonight and preparing for intros with some of the other crew so we have free some cage space up. For now they will hide in another room that the resident rats are not in.

Will post pics of them tomorrow.

Cannot wait to see them.... Text me anytime you have a rattie in need around here - we currently have 3 empty cages :hello: I told Al about them and when I said it was a good thing you had someone else picking them up since I probably would of kept them - he didn't say NO!

Great that four more boys are getting a helping hand. Can't wait for the pics.

So the boys are here. They have a very rough coat. Thin but they seem healthy other wise. The one boy has a head tilt just like lil Nora's so we will start with abs and so on to see if we can correct it.

Jim went to chicago and then brought them to me. Such sweet boys. They are so social and the little dumbo boy is just a arm crawler he goes right up to your shoulders. I dont think they were always neglected but you can see they have been lately.

Yay! It's nice when you can rescue some ratties that DON'T have issues. Hopefully with some Revolution and lots of good food, they will be back to healthy, shiny boys.

I think the hooded boy that is in with the other two dumbos boy will have to be moved. The poor guy jumps and screams when they are near him. One jumped off the hammock with a treat, the hooded boy was down there, he jumped straight up, freaked out got on the hammock and started boxing with the boy up there. He isnt mean but I think these two boys may have tormented him a bit. I will give it a few days and see how it goes but I think he doesnt fit well with them so I will see about moving him somewhere else.

Have they always been together? Maybe this is a new combination.

So they say. The 3 boys were together. He is very freaked out though. The other guys are looking at him like he is crazy, he darts off and runs away.

Perhaps it's just the stress of the changes. Maybe he will calm down in a few days when he realizes he is in a safe place.

I hope so. I am sure they didnt have food or water available at all times so they may have had some fighting over it. I am hoping it will simmer down and they will be happy boys. They are suppose to be older, 2 ish but when they are out they act a lot younger than a 2 year old male would. Very inquisitive and very eager to climb up your arms and to your shoulder.

Well, if they've been restricted in their activity and bored, then maybe they are just really happy to be out and about.

That one boy is just scared. Typical screamer, boxer, and darter LOL boy can he jump straight up. We shall see how he is tomorrow. I am sure I have a boy for him somewhere in that room of mine LOL

Now lately a couple of ratties have been neutered because of fear and reactivity. Is this an option for him?

I have find out his age. I was told he was two. THis morning he was sleeping with a boy so I am hoping it is just nerves LOL

Well brat boy hasnt cleaned up his act. we are guessing a year and half old so I maybe setting him up for a neuter this friday. I am taking two boys in who will be adopted next weekend to be neutered so I might just toss him in and hope someone wants him...........

Everything to gain, nothing to lose...

We have had the boys a month now. They are normal weight and now have shiny fur!

Hooded boy is chunky now to. He was treated for a URI and has been a lot better since.

He is the boy with the stripe down his back. The little hooded guy. He is still a nervous boy but they get along well enough. No major fights just a bit nervous.
