Reading up on bedding for rats, a lot of people use fleece down the bottom. I've got gerbils who use megazorb, often wondering if it's suitable for rats considering it's in a big bulk bag.... 80 litres or something.

I had never heard of it before.
According to what I read after googling it, megazorb is made out of pine, Softwood shavings will slowly destroy the lungs of small animals because of phenols.

According to the rat guide (link below),
When purchasing any type of pine bedding for your pet rat be sure to read the package carefully. As long as it states the pine pellets are kiln dried and you cannot detect the aromatic “pine” odor then it is safe.

So if it is dust free, kiln dried, doesn't contain any chemicals and does not have an odor then it sounds like it might be ok

I did a search and found this older thread http://www.ratshackforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15652&highlight=megazorb
