Back when I had two to three rats at a time, a death always meant finding a new rat to add to the group. But now, with the 12 I have, I still have that urge. Even though I know it's not a good idea and the thought of more stresses me out.

Is this a common thing? Do the rest of you struggle with this?

I was like that in the past. For me, this was how I honoured the rat that passed, I would do another rescue. But now I'm at that point where I need to take a break from rats. My vet fund is depleted and I need to save more money before I can have more. I'm down to two very old rats but I still need to stay away from rescue sites because the urge to go rescue is so strong.

I think it's gonna be harder in January. Tootles and Milo (my foster kids) are going to hopefully be moving back in with their mom and I'll be back down to ten.
