Maurice (Maurie) November 25 2015 - November 23 2017 (bone cancer)
I fostered Maurice, his 26 siblings and his 2 mamas for the SPCA from the time Maurice was a day old. I had the privilege of adopting Maurice, some of his siblings, and his 2 mamas .... the remainder of his surviving siblings were adopted out to other homes by the SPCA.
Maurice was a wonderful little boy full of love and a sense of adventure. Maurice would always come running to me to give me kisses and groom me. He loved attention and was a very 'licky' boy. He brought joy to my life and the lives of his friends and family.
I noticed a lump near his eye Monday night. I immediately started him on antibiotics. Maurice went to the vet on Tuesday where I was told to continue the antibiotics and make another appointment in a few days if he did not improve. Today, while I was on the phone making another appointment blood started gushing from Maurice's eye. Hours later, after seeing the vet and being given an xray, it was discovered that the fast growing lump was either bone cancer or a bone infection. Maurice was put to sleep to prevent further suffering. He fell asleep and died while being cuddled in my arms.
Words can not convey just how much Maurice is, and will be missed. Below are a few pictures I took of Maurice on Tuesday November 21.
