The only cereal I give is multigrain Cheerios but only as an occasional treat.
All cereal have added sugar and salt. Check your label and find one that is lowest sugar, but again, only as an occasional treat.

We use Kashi Puffs, when we make Suebee's mix. http://www.kashi.com/products/kashi_puffs_original

We're probably stopping our Suebee's though, two of our boys are obese and we're just finishing out our current box of mix so we aren't throwing food in the garbage. This cereal makes an excellent training treat too, they eat fast and can be broken into smaller pieces if you want. And no sugar!

My rats love puffed rice cereal as a very rare treat... not to be confused with rice crispies. Puffed rice is ONLY puffed rice, no oils sugars... no nothing.

They've also had cheerios from time to time, but I'm more likely to give a couple of pieces of uncooked pasta than cereal most of the time, simply 'cause we don't keep a lot of healthy cereal around, LOL. I favour frosted flakes, myself.

Mine get 2 multigrain Cheerios everyday, which is obviously to many from what I'm reading on here.
As for the frosted flakes Moon, its a good thing your not a rat cause you'd get ripped off. Tony the tiger would be keeping your flakes :giggle:

My sister gives a cheerio every day as their "go home" treat. Her rats are doing very well...but they also get lots of out time.

So you have to balance it out, if you have nice healthy slim rats who are very active, go ahead and give the cheerio or *shudder* yoggie... so long as they aren't obese and couch potatoes.
